Given the Zionist regime’s genocide in the Gaza Strip and its brutal attacks on Syria, Lebanon, Iran, and most recently Qatar, the IUMS stressed the need for Muslim leaders to take practical measures to protect their countries and people against the Israeli regime.

The union emphasized the need to completely sever political, economic, and diplomatic relations with the Zionist enemy, and also called on the leaders of Islamic countries to immediately hold an Islamic summit and achieve true unity based on pure intention and readiness for self-sacrifice.

Citing Verse 60 of Surah Al-Anfal, “Mobilize your (defensive) force as much as you can to frighten the enemies of God and your own enemies. This also will frighten those who are behind them whom you do not know but God knows well. Whatever you spend for the cause of God, He will give you sufficient recompense with due justice,” the statement said all sincere intellectuals of the Muslim Ummah are unanimous that the Ummah is capable of comprehensive renaissance and high power to prevent enemy aggression, provided there is true will, sincerity, and self-sacrifice, because “God Almighty has commanded us to prepare comprehensive and strategic Islamic deterrent power not for aggression, but to prevent aggression.”

The IUMS emphasized that all the current actions and policies of the Zionist occupiers clearly show that this regime recognizes no rights for the Palestinian people.

It said maintaining legitimate armed resistance, especially in Gaza, is a religious obligation and a necessity to prevent the expansion of the Zionist project, because Gaza is a dividing line and a barrier that must be protected.

“The issue with the Zionist occupiers today is that of the existence and survival of Islamic countries and their independence, and not just the issue of Al-Aqsa Mosque, Gaza, the West Bank, and Palestine. We (could) either be free and independent, or - God forbid - be dominated by the Zionist occupiers.”

At the end of this statement, the IUMS called on all the free people of the world, global and international humanitarian organizations, and countries opposed to the widespread genocide in Gaza to unite against the Zionist regime’s oppression and its crimes against humanity.
