IQNA – Arab and Islamic leaders have condemned Israel’s recent airstrikes on Doha, warning the regime is threatening regional peace and urging global action.

Arab and Islamic Leaders Condemn Israeli Strikes on Doha, Call for Action

The remarks came in the final communiqué of an emergency Arab-Islamic summit held in the Qatari capital on Monday. The meeting followed the Israeli regime’s September 9 missile strike on a residential area in Doha, which targeted Hamas leaders during a discussion on a US ceasefire proposal for Gaza.

According to the statement, the attack was a “cowardly act of aggression” and a violation of Qatari sovereignty carried out against a “neutral venue for international mediation.”

While senior Hamas figures survived, five members of the group and a Qatari security officer were killed. Leaders at the summit said the strikes were intended to derail mediation efforts and disrupt moves toward a ceasefire.

The communiqué called on all states to adopt “legal and effective measures” to stop Israeli atrocities against Palestinians. It urged countries to reassess “diplomatic and economic relations” with the regime and pursue accountability through international legal channels.

Participants voiced support for Qatar, Egypt, and the United States in their mediation role and emphasized solidarity with Doha against future threats. They also reaffirmed backing for the Palestinian cause, condemning Israeli war in Gaza that they said had led to an “unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe.”

The statement rejected any attempt to forcibly displace Palestinians or annex occupied land, and pressed for an immediate end to Israel’s occupation. It also pointed to the importance of collective security and unity among Arab and Islamic nations.

The summit brought together leaders from the 57-member Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the 22-member Arab League. Qatar has been a key mediator in ceasefire negotiations, alongside Egypt.

According to Gaza’s health ministry, more than 64,000 Palestinians, nearly half of them women and children, have been killed since Israel launched the onslaught in October 2023.
