Born in 2007, Landarani began attending Quranic sessions in Tehran from the age of three, encouraged by his father and older brother.

“After four years of listening and learning beside them, I started reciting professionally,” he told IQNA. “I first imitated Sheikh Abdul Basit and later adopted the style of Sheikh Mustafa Ismail, which matched my voice better.”

He won his latest title in the under-18 “Tajweed recitation” category of the nationwide Quran competition, organized by Iran’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization. The final round was held in the western province of Kordestan last month.

“This victory felt different,” Landarani said. “It was the country’s most important Quranic event, and after earning second place last year, I finally saw my efforts pay off.”

He added that competing alongside experienced adult reciters gave him valuable lessons to refine his performance.

A full memorizer of the Quran since the age of 13, Landarani credits his mastery of the text with improving his recitation quality. He is also a member of the national youth reciters’ group established under Iran’s Supreme Quran Council.

His current recitation style, he said, is influenced by the late Egyptian master Sheikh Mohammad Rif’at.

Recently, Landarani was selected to recite at a student gathering attended by the Islamic Revolution Leader which was held on November 3. “When I learned I would open the ceremony with recitation, I was both excited and nervous,” he said. “But through the blessings of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS), I managed to deliver a good performance. Those were some of the best moments of my life.”

Now a student at Farhangian University, Landarani says he aims to keep improving. “I’m still at the beginning of this path,” he said. “My goal is to one day represent Iran in international Quran competitions.”
