In response to the EU’s move to put the IRGC on the so-called “terrorist list”, Esmaeil Baghaei said at a press conference in Tehran on Monday that the summoning of ambassadors and the issuance of statements were an official response from the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In recent days, envoys of all European countries with embassies in Tehran were summoned to the Foreign Ministry, he noted.
“A series of measures are currently being reviewed, and this issue has been referred to the relevant institutions for a final decision.”
Baghaaei added that the EU’s move was not simply an insult to an official institution, but a clear insult to the Iranian nation and a sign of a miscalculation and strategic mistake on the part of the European Union.
“Europe has deliberately ignored that it is accusing an institution that has been at the forefront of the fight against terrorism. If they think that by taking such an action they are moving towards satisfying the US and the Zionist regime, they have made a serious mistake.”
Elsewhere in his remarks, the spokesman referred to developments in the region, saying, “In recent days, we have witnessed an escalation of the Zionist regime’s crimes against the people of Lebanon and Gaza. In just the past few days, after the ceasefire was violated, one of the heaviest attacks took place, resulting in the martyrdom of about 30 Palestinians.”

He added that in Lebanon, there have also been widespread attacks on infrastructure and residential buildings, which shows that the main goal of these aggressions is to prevent the reconstruction, development, and progress of this country, an issue that makes the responsibility of the ceasefire guarantors even more prominent and burdensome than before.
