Ayatollah Sobhani Leads Funeral Prayers for Martyred Leader

IQNA – Senior cleric Ayatollah Jafar Sobhani led funeral prayers for martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, and four of his family members on Sunday morning.

The funeral prayers were offered at the Imam Khomeini (RA) Mosalla (prayer hall) in Tehran.

Senior military and state officials were present at the prayer ceremony, along with mourners from all over the country and even enthusiasts from other countries.

After the end of the two-day public farewell ceremony for the martyred Leader, which began on Saturday, the funeral procession and honoring ceremony will be held in Tehran on Monday, July 6, with the massive presence of the people of Tehran and enthusiasts from all over Iran and other countries.

Then, the holy body of the martyred Leader will be transferred to Qom for farewell ceremony and prayers on Tuesday.

Also, at the request of Iraqi officials, a funeral ceremony will be held in the Iraqi holy cities of Karbala and Najaf on Wednesday, for people to to bid farewell to the martyred Leader of the Islamic Ummah.

Then, the holy body will be transferred to the holy city of Mashhad for burial on Thursday.

Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, along with four members of his family, namely Dr. Mesbah al-Hoda, the Leader’s son-in-law; Seyedeh Boshra Hosseini Khamenei, his daughter; Zahra Haddad Adel, his daughter-in-law; and Zahra Mohammadi Golpayegani, his granddaughter, were martyred in a US-Israeli strike in Tehran on February 28, 2026.
