In conjunction with the Golden Jubilee of the National Mosque, Pos Malaysia Bhd has issued stamps and philatelic products featuring images of three famous mosques — Masjid Negara (National Mosque), Masjid Zahir in Alor Setar, Kedah; and Masjid Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu in Sabah.
The three mosques were chosen for their Islamic architecture and design and are also reputed to be among the most beautiful mosques in Malaysia.
“This is the fourth series of mosque stamps issued by Pos Malaysia. The first collection was released in 1965 to commemorate the inauguration of the National Mosque,” said Pos Malaysia covering group chief executive officer Azlan Shahrim.
Some 450,000 pieces of the special stamps are up for sale at post offices nationwide.
