Reaching New Islamic Civilization Requires Islamic Unity: Cleric

Speaking in a meeting with Pakistani religious leaders and elites in Islamabad, Hojat-ol-Islam Hamid Shahriari underscored that the Islamic Ummah gets stronger through unity.

He referred to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei’s remarks in the International Islamic Unity Conference held in Tehran earlier this year, and said in view of the Leader, the policy of arrogant powers and anti-Islam forces is that of “divide and rule” and fomenting discord among Muslims.

Hojat-ol-Islam Shahriari added that in these conditions, maintaining Islamic unity is among the most important issues.

He said the Islamic world’s scholars and elites should remain vigilant against the enemies and anti-proximity forces.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the cleric hailed the improvement of atmosphere of peace and fraternity in Pakistan.

Hojat-ol-Islam Shahriari is accompanied by Malawi Nazir Ahmad Salami, a member of Iran’s Assembly of Experts, in his visit to Pakistan.

On Tuesday, he held talks with Pakistan’s top Shia cleric Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi and other Shia scholars.

He is also slated to travel to Lahore and Karachi during his stay in Pakistan.
