TEHRAN (IQNA) – A conference is planned to be held in Tehran next week to commemorate Lt. General Qassem Soleimani on the anniversary of his martyrdom.

Religious Leaders to Attend Conference on Anniversary of Gen. Soleimani’s Martyrdom

“Haj Qassem Soleimani, Defender of Freedom, Security and Peaceful Coexistence of Followers of Faiths” is the title of the event, which will be organized by the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization’s (ICRO's) Center for Dialogue among Religions and Cultures.

In addition to Iranian cultural and political figures, religious leaders from Syria, Lebanon and Iraq will address the conference, talking about Martyr Soleimani’s role in protecting the rights of followers of faiths and fighting extremism in the region.

On the sidelines of the conference, a photo exhibition will be mounted whose theme is the oppression and injustices of the enemies, especially Daesh (ISIL or ISIS), against minority groups like Christians, Izadis and others and the efforts made by Mujahids (warriors) led by Gen. Soleimani to fight those injustices.

General Soleimani, Iraqi PMU deputy Commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, and a number of their entourage were killed in a strike by American drones near Baghdad International Airport in the early hours of January 3, 2020.

The White House and the Pentagon claimed responsibility for the assassinations, saying the attack was carried out at the direction of then US president Donald Trump.
