Port Said Int’l Quran Contest to Start on Feb 18

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The fifth edition of international Quran competitions in Egypt’s Port Said will start on February 18, 2022.

 

The opening ceremony is set to be held in Port Said with Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly in attendance, according to Dostor.

Adel Mohamed Ibrahim Yousef Al Ghadhban, Port Said governor, said that all the preparations for the event have been done, adding that representatives of 66 countries will take part in the international event.

He also said that three figures will be honored in this event namely Muslim scholar Ahmed Omar Hashem, recitation master Ahmed Naina, and head of the Holy Quran Radio Reda Abdel Salam.

Adil Muslihi, an official with the organizing committee, says that memorization is the main category of the event.

The panel of arbiters is comprised of experts from Egypt, UAE, Libya, and Mali and is headed by Abdel Karim Saleh.

The event is slated to go through February 22.

This year’s contest has been named after late Quran reciter Master Mustafa Esmail.
