Registration Opens for Quran Competition in Dubai
The city’s Islamic Affairs and Activities Department (IACAD) made the announcement, according to WAM news agency.
It said registration for the contest began on Friday and will run until Wednesday, August 31.
The process for selecting the contenders will start on September 5 and continue for two weeks, the department noted.
It went on to say that the main stage of the competition is slated for October 1-9.
The Maktoum Holy Quran Memorization Centers are affiliated to Dubai’s Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department, whose aims, according to its website, include spreading and promoting the values of moderate Islam, developing the charitable work and building mosques in accordance with international best practices.
The centers organize Quranic courses, including on memorization of the Holy Book, for male and female students free of charge.
