Nat’l Quran Competition of Algeria: Preliminary Round Kicks Off

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Algeria’s ministry of Awqaf and Islamic affairs announced the launch of the preliminary round of the country’s national Quran competition.

It said in a statement on Wednesday that the first round began in various parts of the country, Algeria’s official news agency reported.

The competition is being held in the category of memorization of the entire Quran in two separate sections for men and women, the statement said.

The participants should be fluent in Warsh from Nafi narration and have mastery over the rules of Tajweed, it noted.

The ministry added that the age limit for the contenders is minimum 15 years and maximum 25 years.

The Awqaf and Islamic affairs departments in cities and towns across Algeria host the preliminary round.

Those who perform the best in this round will qualify for the final stage, which is slated for 2023.

The top winners will make it to the Algeria international Quran memorization and Tajweed competition.

Algeria is a country in North Africa. Muslims make up about ninety-nine percent of the country's population.
