Quranic Conference in Baghdad Urges Enacting Int’l Laws that Criminalize Desecration of Sanctities
The conference was held on Wednesday by the National Quranic Sciences, which is affiliated with the Iraqi Shia Waqf Department.
In the final statement, the participants also called on Quranic institutions and centers and all Holy Quran believers in the world to condemn an denounce the recent acts of Quran desecration in Sweden and Denmark.
Following is the full text of the conference’s final statement:
In the name of Allah Most Gracious, Most Merciful
“Had we sent down this Quran on a mountain Verily thou wouldst have seen It humble itself and cleave A sunder for fear of Allah Such are the similitudes which we propound to men, That they may reflect.” (Verse 21 of Surah Al-Hashr)
Believe Allah High Almighty
Allah has created the human being as glorious as long as he adhered to his obedience and walked on his right approach when he said (whoever wants glory, all glory be to Allah). The most important basis of glory is to adhere to the holy book of Allah and to sanctify and defend it from profaning and desecration.
We are here standing concluding a conference to condemn and this disgraceful and despicable act represented by burning Holy Quran which has been seen and heard by all Muslims all over the world under the approval of the Swedish and Danish governments. This shameful act has been repeated many times, therefore we must take a decisive attitude to support the Holy Quran: “If you will aid (The cause of) Allah, He will aid you.”
The conference of teachers and reciters of Holy Quran resulted in the following points:
1- Presenting great thanks and gratitude to the supreme religious references represented by Alsaid Alsistanny (Ayatollah Seyed Ali al-Sistani) may Almighty Allah save him for addressing the united nations and protesting against offending the religious sanctities.
2- Supporting Iraqi government measures in closing Sweden embassy in Baghdad and withdrawing Iraqi ambassador to Sweden.
3- Calling on Quranic institutions and centers and all Holy Quran believers in the world to condemn an denounce these acts and also to press on their governments to take deterrent measures to stop such acts.
4- Calling on International courts to enact an international law that criminalizes those who offend Holy books especially for Holy Quran.
5- Calling on all Muslims communities in Sweden to activate Quranic activities and organizing Quranic sessions and forums in public squares after getting permissions from Sweden authorities.
6- Calling on Shia and Sunni endowments and the sacred holy shrines to support Quranic movements in Sweden and Denmark besides other Western countries to open branches in these countries linked to Holy Quran centers of the holy shrines in order to activate memorizing Quranic courses in a way that can serve Muslim communities in general.
