The Al-Aqsa Flood Operation was carried out by the Hamas resistance movement against Israel on October 7 in response to the Israeli atrocities in occupied territories and its violations of the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
It included missile attacks on occupied cities and ground assaults on settlements near Gaza. That operation plus retaliatory missile strikes by Palestinian resistance groups left hundreds of Israelis dead.
Aharon Haliva, the head of the Israeli regime’s military intelligence, on Tuesday publicly admitted to a significant lapse in the agency’s performance, describing it as the most important mission failure.
He said Israel failed in taking action regarding an imminent Hamas attack from the Gaza Strip.
He said he would take full responsibility for the failure.
Earlier, Ronen Bar, the head of Israel's domestic security service Shin Bet, also assumed personal responsibility for the agency’s shortcomings and failures in anticipating the attack.
He said that there is time for investigation into the causes of the failure but that now is the time of war.
The regime’s finance minister, Bezalel Smotrich, also said on Sunday that Israel must admit it has been dealt a humiliating blow.
