Hamid Majidimehr, head of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization’s Quranic Affairs Center told IQNA that the kingdom has sent an official letter, inviting Iran to introduce its representatives in the competition.
It will be for the first time after a long period that Iran will participate in the Saudi Quranic event, he noted.
The international Quran competition of Saudi Arabia, along with those in Iran and Malaysia, is among the oldest and most prestigious Quran contests in the world, he stated.
Saudi Arabia’s 44th international Quran competition is slated to be held in the early days of the lunar Hijri month of Dhul Hajja (August), he said, adding that Iran has been asked to introduce two representatives for the Quranic event.
The country’s representatives will be selected by the Committee for Inviting and Dispatching Qaris, he further said.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Majidimehr noted that Iranian qaris and memorizers have won some 400 titles in international Quran contests, stressing that the successful presence of Iran’s representatives in international Quranic events signifies the growth of Quranic activities in the country.
Iran and Saudi Arabia re-established diplomatic relations in March 2023 through a China-mediated agreement, marking a significant development after severing relations in 2016.
Later, in April 2023, Yunes Shahmoradi from Iran bagged the top prize in the second edition of the Otr Elkalam international Quran competition in Saudi Arabia.
