Hojat-ol-Islam Seyyed Masoud Mirian, Director of the Quranic Affairs Center at Imam Reza (AS) Holy Shrine, said that 12 Quranic circles are planned across the northeastern Iranian province of Khorasan Razavi as the country marks Islamic Unity Week.
“Unity Week is a valuable opportunity to strengthen brotherhood and unity among Muslims,” he told the official press service of the shrine on Monday.
“The Holy Prophet (PBUH) left two precious legacies: the Holy Quran and the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) as a trust for the Islamic community,” he said, adding, “By following them, we can preserve unity and prevent division.”
He noted that 12 Quranic gatherings will be held from September 16 to 19 in the mosques of cities and villages in Torbat-e Jam, Salehabad, Khaf, Taybad, and Bakharz.

A host of international, national, and regional Quran qaris and memorizers will host the event that will be embraced by the general public, according to Mirian.
“These gatherings are held with the goal of promoting Quranic teachings, safeguarding the valuable heritage of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), and emphasizing unity through the presence of national and regional Quranic reciters and memorizers,” he stressed.
The 17th day of Rabi al-Awwal, which falls on September 21 this year, is believed by Shia Muslims to mark the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), while Sunni Muslims regard the 12th day of the month (Thursday, September 16) as the birthday of the last prophet.
The interval between the two dates was declared the Islamic Unity Week by the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini, in the 1980s.
