IQNA – Iran’s Foreign Ministry has strongly denounced the Israeli regime’s ongoing war on Gaza as a “profound moral crisis” and one of the worst genocides in modern history.

‘Moral Collapse’: Tehran Slams US, Israel for Atrocities in Gaza

Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei made the remarks amid growing global outrage over the occupation regime’s military onslaught in Gaza, which has left tens of thousands dead and millions displaced, with civilians enduring relentless bombing, starvation, and disease.

“What is happening in Gaza is not just a humanitarian disaster; it is a profound moral collapse in the heart of the Mediterranean,” Baghaei said.

He condemned the use of deadly weapons by the Israeli regime with support from the United States and some European countries, including Germany. “The defenseless people of Gaza are being slaughtered with Western weapons while facing hunger, famine, disease, and displacement,” he added.

The diplomat said the rising civilian death toll—mainly due to lack of food, medicine, and shelter—would go down in history “as one of the most severe cases of genocide ever recorded.”

Baghaei strongly criticized the international community for failing to act. “The UN Security Council, crippled by US obstructionism, hasn’t even managed to pass a basic resolution to stop the attacks or send humanitarian aid,” he said.

He argued that under international law, all nations are obligated to halt war crimes, prosecute perpetrators, and provide emergency relief to besieged populations—yet little to no serious action has been taken.

“Responsibility lies not only with the perpetrators but also with the enablers, apologists, and silent bystanders,” Baghaei warned.

Citing bipartisan US support for Israel, Baghaei said, “From Democrats to Republicans, the United States has always stood by the Zionist regime. For Palestinians, this makes America a full accomplice in genocide and crimes against humanity.”

Experts have echoed these concerns. Since May, Israeli forces have killed more than 1,330 Palestinians seeking aid and wounded over 8,800, mostly near so-called Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) centers.

UN agencies also report that over 6,000 children in Gaza are suffering from malnutrition under the crippling Israeli blockade.

“Washington’s special envoys and political theatrics do nothing to hide its role in these atrocities,” Baghaei said. “This is a stain on the conscience of humanity.”
