IQNA – The final stage of the sixth Quran memorization, recitation and Tajweed competition of Morocco began Friday in the city of Fez.

The final stage of the sixth Quran memorization, recitation and Tajweed competition of Morocco began Friday, September 26, 2025, in the city of Fez.

 

The three-day competition is being held virtually by the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulema Foundation with the participation of its branches in 48 African countries, i3lamtv reported.

There are 104 male and 13 female participants in this stage, competing in the categories of memorization of the entire Quran with Tarteel narrated by Warsh from Nafi, memorization of the entire Quran with Tarteel with different recitations and narrations, and recitation with memorization of at least five Juzes (parts) of the Quran.

The competition’s judging committee consists of prominent scholars and reciters from Morocco, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Chad, Central African Republic, Sudan, Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Somalia.

They have gathered in the city of Fez to evaluate the participants’ performances.

The activities of this competition are covered and broadcast to interested parties via the Zoom platform, and a technical team from Fez oversees the coverage of the event.

In May and June 2025, the foundation organized a regional competition in the branches of the foundation in African countries, and local competitions were held for each discipline in 48 branches to select the finalists.

Strengthening the connection between African Muslim youth and teenagers with the Quran and encouraging them to memorize and recite the Holy Book have been announced as one of the goals of this competition.
