
About 800 of them are Iraqi pilgrims from the cities of Najaf and Karbala, an official said.
Hossein Rezaei, spokesman for the Society for the Serving on Foot Pilgrims, said a total of 2,565 pilgrims from Iran and Iraq have arrived in Mashhad on foot.
He added that, fortunately, no incidents or special problems have occurred for the caravans along the route, and the movement of pilgrims continues in a safe and orderly manner.
It is expected that pilgrims will continue to arrive on foot from the old Quchan and Fariman roads tonight, on eve of the martyrdom night of Hazrat Zahra (SA), he stated.
Regarding the cities of origin of the pilgrims, Rezaei said most of the caravans are from the cities of Khorasan Razavi Province, as well as from the eastern cities of the country such as Birjand, Nehbandan and Qaen, and cities such as Neyshabur and the surrounding areas.
Referring to the services provided to these caravans, he said 25 votive food, beverage and accommodation stations are active on the routes to Mashhad.

Pilgrims will benefit from various services such as accommodation and overnight rest, bathing, provision of meals including breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, he stated.
Rezaei went on to say that Light medical services are also provided at the stations, and two ambulances are also on standby on the route to transport the pilgrims in case of any possible problems.
