IQNA – The representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the first international Quran contest of Pakistan said he expects tough competition in the Quranic event.

Iranian qari Adnan Momenin is representing Iran in the first international Quran contest of Pakistan.

Speaking to IQNA, Adnan Momenin, who is in Islamabad, said the level of the participating reciters in the competition, known as Husn Qara’at “Good Recitation” is high as each of them have previously participated in several international events.

Prominent Quran master Gholam Reza Shahmiveh is accompanying Momenin in the competition as a guide.

The Quranic event was launched in Islamabad on Monday and will run through November 29.

IQNA: Please tell us about your activities and background in Quranic affairs.

Momenin: I am 30 years old and I live in the city of Khorramshahr (southwest Iran). Last year, I was one of the finalists in Iran’s National Quran Competition, but unfortunately I did not win a title. However, due to my participation in the finals of the competition, I was able to perform a recitation in the presence of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution at the beginning of this year’s holy month of Ramadan.

I am a member of the :Misbah-ul-Huda” International Tawashih Group from Abadan, and after winning the first place in the Tawasheeh competitions, we were invited to Tanzania in 2017, and that same year, this group performed in the presence of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution. In 2022, I was honored to be present in Hajj as part of the Noor (light) Quranic Convoy, and last Ramadan, members of the Misbah-ul-Huda Group were sent to China.

IQNA: Please tell us about the Quran competition in Pakistan. What is your prediction about the quality of the performances?

Momenin: The name of this competition is Husn Qara’at and considering that it is being held for the first time, it seems that we will have a tough competition ahead of us, because some of the participants have already won rankings in several international competitions.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs of Pakistan is in charge of organizing this competition in the field of recitation. The competition began yesterday, Monday, November 24, and will continue until Friday, November 29.

After the closing ceremony, the top three of this competition will be given prizes and felicitations, and will be hosted in Islamabad for another three days, until December 3.

IQNA: When is your turn to perform your recitation in the contest?

Momenin: Regarding the recitation draw, I must say that some of the contestants in Groups 1 and 2 have been given the turn to recite, and they will recite today or the next two days, but my draw will most likely be for the fourth day of this international event.
