The Palestinian Ministry of Religious Endowments and Affairs confirmed that Zionist settlers, under the protection of Israeli regime forces, stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in the holy city of al-Quds 27 times, while the occupation forces prevented the Adhan (call to prayer) 53 times at the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron (al-Khalil) during the month of December.
In its report issued Sunday, according to the Palestinian news agency WAFA, the ministry stated that the occupation and its settlers have escalated their attacks on the Al-Aqsa Mosque, with the number of incursions reaching 27.
This coincided with dozens of settlers storming the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the first day of Hanukkah, amidst escalating calls for continuous incursions throughout the week of the holiday, and attempts to hold candle-lighting rituals within the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque under the protection of the occupation forces. It addressed the seriousness of the repeated Israeli attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque, noting that they have become part of a clear strategy aimed at normalizing the Jewish religious and devotional presence within the mosque.
The ministry warned of the nature of these attacks, which have become a daily occurrence, such as the prostration rituals, the blowing of the shofar (ram's horn), and the wearing of prayer garments in a clear display of their religious practices and collective Talmudic prayers. These rituals are performed in specific locations and at specific times, clearly reinforcing the temporal and spatial division of the mosque.
The ministry pointed out that since last August, settlers have been boasting about their prayers and prostrations, performing them collectively and publicly within Al-Aqsa. The eastern area of Al-Aqsa, near the Bab al-Rahma prayer area, has become the primary destination for settler prayers.
It also noted that large numbers of settlers held noisy celebrations in the plaza of the Western Wall (Buraq Wall) to the west of Al-Aqsa Mosque, the sounds of which reverberated throughout the Old City, coinciding with the start of the Hebrew month and the sixth day of Hanukkah.
Regarding the Ibrahimi Mosque, the Palestinian Waqf reported that the Israeli occupation forces prevented the call to prayer 53 times. Loud celebrations were heard within the occupied section of the mosque, and several employees were prevented from entering without justification. The daily closure of the market gate continued, obstructing worshippers' access to the Ibrahimi Mosque.
