The governor of al-Quds has condemned the decision to introduce the restrictions as an arbitrary move and a clear violation of the right to freedom of worship.
He said such moves are parts of plan to have more control over the city and to further trample on the basic religious rights of the Palestinian people in the West Bank and Gaza.
This is while the attacks by illegal Israeli settlers on Al-Aqsa mosque backed by Israeli forces and officials have escalated and the Zionists have been implementing age limits that have practically prevented access to the mosque for hundreds of thousands of Palestinians since October 2023, he noted.
The Tel Aviv regime imposed a strict siege on al-Aqsa Mosque and blocked Palestinians’ access to it after it started its war of genocide on the besieged Gaza Strip.
The Israeli regime also issued dozens of deportation orders against Palestinian residents of al-Quds to prevent them from praying during the holy month of Ramadan.
Reacting to the regime’s restrictions on the holy site, the Palestinian resistance movements condemned the measures and warned that the regime was playing with fire.

Al-Aqsa Mosque is the world's third-holiest site for Muslims. Jews call the area the Temple Mount, claiming it was the site of two Jewish temples in ancient times.
Israel occupied East Jerusalem al-Quds, where Al-Aqsa is located, during the 1967 Arab-Israeli War. It annexed the entire city in 1980 in a move never recognized by the international community.
