The competition was organized by the Astan (custodianship) of Hazrat Abbas (AS) holy shrine in Karbala.
Quran reciters from Arab, Asian and African countries took part in the international event.
Internationally-acclaimed qari Mohsen Qassemi from Iran won the top prize.
He had previously participated in domestic and international Quran competitions, including the Malaysia international contest.
