Teenage Quran Memorizer Honored in Turkey
According to tr.agency website, Musa Gukjic, who is 16, lives in Bitlis Province in southeast Turkey.
He took a course organized by the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) to memorize the Quran.
Musa managed to memorize the entire Holy Book in just five months.
At the ceremony, held by the Mufti of the region, Musa and three of his friends who have also memorized the Quran received memorization certificates.
The Mufti hailed their achievement and noted that it is rare for someone to memorize the Quran in such a short period of time.
He also appreciated the Quran teachers who helped Musa and the three other boys to memorize the Quran.
The number of Quran memorizers in Turkey is about 140,000 according to official data.
The Holy Quran is the only religious Scripture that is memorized by its followers.
Innumerable persons in every Muslim community have memorized the Quran since the first day it was revealed.
The Quran has 30 Juzes (parts), 114 Surahs (chapters) and 6,236 verses.
