The event was held on Saturday with the participation of Turkish officials including İbrahim Hilmi Karslı, deputy head of the Directorate of Religious Affairs.

The ceremony began with the recitation of some verses of the Holy Quran and next, boy and girl Quran memorizers entered the hall accompanied by supplications.

Addressing the event, Karslı called for expanding the Quranic culture across the country, citing the presence of many memorizes in Turkey.

Stressing the role of the Noble Quran in the growth of society, he wished for an evermore increase in the number of Quran memorizers in Turkey and other Islamic states across the world.

The ceremony ended with presenting certificates and special gifts to 290 memorizers.
In a report back in August, Turkey’s Directorate of Religious Affairs said that some 2 million children across the country had participated in Quran memorization courses this summer which was held from June 5 to August 20 in 61,000 mosques and 13,000 centers across the country.
