TEHRAN (IQNA) – The so-called 'Temple Mount groups' said there has been a 60 per cent increase in the number of Zionist incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque compound over the past three months.

The Palestinian Information Center reported Israeli Channel 7 TV station as saying some 9,804 Zionist settlers have stormed the mosque over the past three months, compared to 6,133 over the same period last year.

Scores of Zionist settlers storm the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque from the Mughrabi Gate every day, under the protection of the Israeli occupation police.

They carry out provocative tours, as well as performing Talmudic prayers in the eastern parts of it.

Al-Aqsa represents the world's third-holiest site for Muslims, while Jews refer to the area as the "Temple Mount", claiming it was the site of two Jewish temples in ancient times.

The Zionist regime captured East Jerusalem al-Quds, where Al-Aqsa Mosque is located, during the Six-Day War in 1967 in a move never recognized by the international community.
