Egyptian Satellite TV Program Aims to Promote Quran Recitation

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A program aired by an Egyptian satellite TV network features Quran recitations by qaris from different countries.

The program, named ‘Wa Rattil al-Quran’, is aired on Thursdays and Fridays every week by Iqra TV, according to Gate Ahram website.

It is aimed at promoting recitation of the Quran in the world.

Mus’ab Arafat, who is himself a known qari in Egypt, is the host.

Qaris from around the world send their recorded recitation of the Quran to the program via WhatsApp and some of them are selected to be aired on the program.

The viewers are also given instructions and recommendations on correct methods of memorizing and reciting the Quran.

Another part of the program features Quranic stories from the companions of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and others.

Egypt is a country in North Africa with a population of around 100 million.

Muslims account for around 90 percent of the country’s total population.

Quranic activities are very common in the Muslim-majority Arab country and many of the Muslim world’s top Qaris in the past and present have been Egyptian.
