Winners of the competition were announced and awarded at the closing ceremony at the Grand Mosque in Kuwait City, according to Al-Jarida.
Ma’arib al-Yaqub, an official with the organizing committee, said a total of 1,382 people, including 782 men and 600 women took part in the Quranic event.
According to the official, it was held for ten days starting in late October.
A number of top Kuwaiti qaris, including Mashari al-Afasi, Fahd al-Kuduri and Mohammad a-Barak recited the Quran as guest qaris during the contest, he added.
Al-Yaqub noted that the winners will represent Kuwait in international Quranic events.
He also said that the main objective of the competition was to encourage Kuwaiti youths to memorize the Quran.
