The Palestinian Authority’s Awqaf and Religious Affairs Ministry and the Safa Bank have jointly organized the contest, Al-Watan Voice reported.

It features memorization of 6 Juzes (parts) of the Quran for students aged 6 to 18 years.

According to deputy Awqaf minster Hisam Abu al-Rab, such Quranic programs encourage Palestinian students to memorize the Book of God and learn religious teachings.

Nazal al-Barghuthi, director general of Safa Bank, said the bank has cooperated in holding the Quran contest with the aim of promoting Quranic and Islamic concepts in the Palestinian society.

He said the bank will gift winners of the top ten ranks of competition with cash prizes ranging from 200 to 2,000 dollars.

According to another Palestinian Awqaf ministry official, some 3,000 school students have taken part in the contest.
