TEHRAN (IQNA) – A Kuwaiti expert described this year’s edition of the international Quran competition in Iran as a successful event.

This was a successful event amid the cancelation of similar competitions in some other countries, Badria Khader Mohammed Al-Abdali told IQNA.

She evaluated the participants’ performances in Sawt (melodious voice) and Lahn (rhythm) in the women’s category.

The final stage of the 38th international Quran competition of Iran kicked off last Monday and came to end with an awarding ceremony on Saturday evening.

She noted that it was the second time that she was a member of the panel of arbiters in this competition.

“We were clearly observing that Iran was putting all efforts to stage the event,” she said, adding, “It is true that the covid-19 pandemic and online communications influence the level of competitions but Iran used great capacities and one should say that the contest was a successful one at the level of in-person events.”

Organizers of the event adhered to Quranic and Islamic activities and challenged the pandemic, she said, lauding Iran’s efforts in this regard.

A total of 62 qaris and memorizers from 29 countries competed in this stage of the event, which was held virtually.

Tahereh Naebi Movahed from Iran claimed the first rank of women’s memorization of the entire Quran. Zahra Abdul Jabbar from Iraq and Ashura Amani from Tanzania finished next.

Iran’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization holds the competition annually with the participation of Quran reciters and memorizers from various countries.
