TEHRAN (IQNA) – Grand Mufti of Oman Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad al-Khalili urged that a planned concert of South Korean K-Pop Group in the Arab country be called off.

In a tweet on Monday, he expressed regret that such an “atheist” group is going to have a program in Oman.

Sheikh al-Khalili called on related bodies and officials not to allow the group to enter the Arab country.

The K-Pop Group (BIG) is scheduled to perform on June 9 at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center in Muscat.

BIG (also known as Boys In Groove), is a four-member South Korean boy band formed by GH Entertainment in Seoul, debuting in 2014, with its first digital single Hello.

While some Omanis have taken to Twitter to support the group’s trip to the country, many have expressed opposition to it, calling on authorities to ban their trip.

Oman is a country situated in Southwest Asia, bordering the Arabian Sea, Gulf of Oman, and Persian Gulf, between Yemen and United Arab Emirates (UAE). Virtually all Omanis are Muslim.
