The Astan said in a statement on Saturday that it is ready to transfer the injured Gazans to Karbala and treat them in its hospitals in cooperation with relevant bodies in the Iraqi government.

The statement said the humanitarian move is in line with the Iraqi source of emulation Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani’s emphasis on the need for supporting the oppressed people of Palestine.

The statement comes as the number of people martyred in the Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip has surpassed 4,000, according to the Health Ministry in the coastal enclave.

The ministry said 4,385 people have been killed in the Zionist regime’s attacks so far, 1,756 of whom are children and 976 others are women.

The brutal bombings have also left more than 13,500 people injured, it added.
