Algeria Nat’l Quran Contest: 133 Contenders Compete in Preliminary Round

IQNA – The preliminary round of Algeria’s national Quran competition was held with the participation of 133 contenders.

The contestants, who were from different provinces of the country, competed in the categories of Quran memorization, Tajweed recitation and Tafsir (Quran interpretation), Algeria’s Awqaf ministry said in a statement.

It noted that the preliminary round, which was held virtually for three days, concluded on Wednesday.

The members of the panel of arbiters judged their performances at the Awqaf ministry, according to the statement.

The top contenders in this round will make it to the finals, slated to be organized in the holy month of Ramadan, the ministry noted.

The overall winners will represent Algeria in the country’s international Holy Quran award, it went on to say.
