IQNA – A Lebanese analyst and regional and international affairs expert described late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi as a historic, strategic and exceptional figure in the history of the fight against the Zionist regime.

Hakam Amhaz spoke to IQNA about Martyr Raisi’s support for Palestine and the axis of resistance.

He said in order to recognize Raisi’s defense of the axis of resistance, Palestine and Lebanon, one should refer to the beliefs to which he was committed.

There is a difference between a person who is committed to a belief and sacrifices himself for it and a person who has to stick to a belief, Amhaz noted.

Ayatollah Raisi was in the first group as he devotedly supported the cause of Palestine and the resistance in Lebanon, he stated.

The expert referred to the trips Raisi made to Lebanon before his presidency to visit the resistance forces’ positions and hold talks with Palestinian resistance groups, stressing that after assuming the office of Iran’s president, the role of Raisi as a supporter of resistance became more obvious.

Ayatollah Raisi would always say that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to use all its power in supporting the axis of resistance, especially Palestine, he noted.

The Iranian president did not miss a single international platform to raise awareness about the issue of Palestine and call for backing the Palestinian people’s rights, he said.

If you look at an Arab-Islamic summit held in Saudi Arabia some two months after the start of the Israeli regime’s attacks on the Gaza Strip, you’ll see that President Raisi was the only speaker at the summit who declared his decisive stances against the Israeli regime and in support of the Palestinian cause, Amhaz said.

The Lebanese analyst also highlight the role of Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in defending the Palestinian rights and the resistance front.

President Raisi, Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian, and their accompanying delegation lost their lives after the helicopter carrying them crashed in the northwestern province of East Azarbaijan on May 19, 2024.

Their bodies were found a day later after an extensive night-long search operation.

Iran observed five days of national mourning with funeral processions for the victims held in multiple cities last week.
