Omid Hosseininejad’s turn to show off his Quranic talents came a few hours after the inauguration ceremony on Wednesday.
He recited Verses 9-20 of Surah Al-Isra of the Holy Quran.
Hosseininejad told IQNA afterward that he performed the recitation according to the plan and that he was quite content with it.
He referred to the qaris from Egypt and Bahrain as his main rivals in the competition.
The level of Egyptian qaris’ recitation is always high, he noted, adding that the representative of Bahrain is also a very good reciter who won the top prize in Malaysia’s international Quran competition two years ago.
He also highlighted the good performance of the contender from South Africa.
Hosseininejad, who is from Khorasan Razavi Province, was selected as the country’s representative by the Committee for Inviting and Dispatching Qaris.
