IQNA – A Kuwaiti Quran expert said there is no need to add new categories to the women section of Iran’s International Holy Quran Competition.

Badriyah al-Abduli is serving as a member of the panel of judges in the women section in the final round of Iran’s 41st International Holy Quran Competition.

Badriyah al-Abduli is in Mashhad serving as a member of the panel of judges in the women section in the final round of the competition’s 41st edition.

Speaking to IQNA on the sidelines of the competition, she said the current two categories, namely memorization of the entire Quran and Tarteel recitation, are enough and addition of new categories is not necessary.

As for the level of the contenders, she said that overall, it can be said that they are at an average level, although some have performed strongly.

Al-Abduli also said the competition regulations are good and acceptable, and the evaluation of points and scores in these regulations is sufficiently transparent, with no issues present.

Asked how effective Quran competitions can be in encouraging young people to memorize and recite the Quran, she said the Holy Quran has been revealed for all Muslims and humanity, including young people.

“Reciting the Quran, especially by the youth, has spiritual benefits and positive effects on society. Therefore, it’s important to increasingly direct them towards this through Quran programs, particularly Quran competitions.”

She added that the gathering of representatives from Islamic countries in a nation like Iran, which bears the Islamic title, within the spiritual atmosphere of the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) in Mashhad, strengthens religious and Islamic foundations and can be a step towards forming a new Islamic civilization based on Quranic principles and foundations.
