The concluding stage of the National Quran Competition of Syria was launched on October 4 at Al-Taqwa Mosque in Damascus, according to SANA.
The event brings together 372 contestants from across the country who advanced through preliminary and secondary rounds.
According to the Syrian Ministry of Awqaf, more than 6,000 students—both male and female—took part in the earlier stages of the contest. The finalists were selected based on their performance in memorization, recitation, and tajweed.
Abdul Qader Othman, Director of Quran Affairs at the Ministry of Awqaf, said the finalists demonstrated “a very good level of mastery in memorization, Tajweed, and performance” after successfully passing the earlier rounds.
He added that this year’s competition includes, for the first time, a special category for Qira’at al-Quran, with 102 participants taking part in that section.

He also highlighted the committee’s previous achievements, stating that it has participated in nine international Quran contests, securing top rankings, including first place in Malaysia, second place in Morocco, and other leading positions in Libya and Egypt.
