Trump, Regional Leaders Sign Gaza Ceasefire Pact as Freed Palestinians Detail Prison ‘Fascism’
The agreement was signed on Monday in Egypt’s Red Sea resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh by Trump, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
During the ceremony, Trump called the deal “historic,” saying it represented a long-awaited turning point after years of conflict.
He said that it “took 3,000 years to get to this point” and claimed that the ceasefire “will hold.” The US president said the moment was one that “people around the region and across the world have been working, striving, hoping, and praying for.”
Trump said the Gaza war was now “over,” emphasizing that humanitarian aid — including hundreds of truckloads of food and medical supplies — was entering the enclave, much of it funded by countries represented at the signing.

He thanked Arab and Muslim nations for contributing to what he described as a “tremendous breakthrough.”
President el-Sisi expressed gratitude to Trump and the leaders of Qatar and Turkey, voicing his support for the ceasefire as a step toward reviving a political process based on the so-called two-state solution.
The signing followed the release of 20 Israeli captives and the return of four bodies by Hamas under the first phase of the US-brokered deal. In exchange, the Israeli regime freed 250 Palestinian prisoners and more than 1,700 Gaza detainees held without charge.

In a statement issued Monday, Hamas described the release of prisoners as a “national achievement” and a “shining milestone” in the Palestinian struggle. The group said those freed “revealed the most horrific forms of psychological and physical torture” during their detention, characterizing their suffering as “the harshest forms of sadism and fascism in the modern era.”
Hamas urged international human rights bodies to address Israel’s “systematic crimes against prisoners.”
Trump first announced the ceasefire framework on October 8, outlining a phased plan involving prisoner exchanges and broader political arrangements.
The agreement came after four days of indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas in Sharm el-Sheikh, attended by mediators from Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey under US supervision.

The deal’s second phase envisions the establishment of a new governing structure for Gaza, a joint Palestinian-Arab security force, and reconstruction financed by Arab states.
Since Israel’s genocidal war began in October 2023, more than 67,800 Palestinians, have been killed in Gaza, according to local authorities. Much of the territory has been reduced to ruins.
