Afghanistan Receives 30,000-Pilgrim Quota for Upcoming Hajj Season

IQNA – Saudi Arabia has allocated 30,000 spots for Afghan citizens to perform the Hajj pilgrimage this year, according to an announcement by Afghanistan’s Taliban-led government.

The Taliban’s ministry of guidance, Hajj, and religious endowments made the announcement, with officials stating that Saudi Arabia has also promised to increase this quota in the coming years.

Sheikh Noor Muhammad Saqib, the head of the ministry, said that the quota was secured following persistent discussions and negotiations with the Saudi side, and that the possibility of increasing it in subsequent years is being considered.

According to him, the cost determined for each pilgrim this year is 266,400 Afghanis. He emphasized that this amount was calculated based on the primary expenses of the Hajj.

Officials from the ministry also assured that contracts concerning accommodation, food, transportation, and other necessary services for the pilgrims have been finalized on time, and all preparations for sending pilgrims are ready.
