IQNA – While there were about 21 hours of negotiations and diplomatic efforts, Americans' excessive demands prevented an agreement in the talks between Iranian and US delegations in Islamabad, Pakistan.

The Iranian negotiating team, including Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and Supreme National Security Council member Ali Bagheri, along with expert committees, held about 21 hours of intensive negotiations and consultations in Islamabad, standing up for the fundamental rights of the Iranian people in various political and military fields, including the right to peaceful nuclear technology, and prevented the realization of the Americans’ excessive demands.

The Americans intended to achieve in talks the concessions they could not obtain in the war, including the issue of the Strait of Hormuz and the removal of nuclear materials from the country; but the Iranian delegation prevented this.

The Iranian team tried with various initiatives to push the American side towards reaching a common framework, but the American spirit of seeking excessive demands prevented their rationality and realism, and finally an agreement was not reached.

The Iranian delegation left Pakistan early on Sunday after several rounds of negotiations.

The US and the Israeli regime launched a war of aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran on February 28, during which hundreds of people and officials, including then Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei were martyred.

Iranian retaliated by launching missile and drone attacks on Israeli targets and US bases and assets in the region.

After failing to achieve its goals, the US was forced on Wednesday to ask for a ceasefire and talks to end the conflict.
