Medvedev is leading a high-level Russian delegation participating in the funeral events for the late Leader. During the visit, he expressed Moscow’s condolences to the Iranian people and praised their unity during a period of national mourning.

In a message issued after attending the memorial ceremony, Medvedev said Russia stood alongside Iran in grieving the loss of Ayatollah Khamenei. He added that the tragedy had strengthened national solidarity and argued that Iran would continue to resist outside pressure.

The senior Russian official also expressed confidence that the Iranian people would remain resilient in their confrontation with the United States, reiterating Moscow’s support for Tehran during a period of heightened regional tensions.

Medvedev’s remarks came as Russia and Iran continue to deepen cooperation across political, economic and strategic sectors. The visit also included talks between the Russian delegation and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

According to Iranian officials, President Pezeshkian emphasized the importance of accelerating the implementation of strategic agreements signed between Tehran and Moscow. He called for faster progress on joint projects in trade, energy, transportation and transit infrastructure, describing economic cooperation as a key pillar of the bilateral relationship.

Russia and Iran have expanded their partnership in recent years through increased diplomatic engagement and closer coordination on regional and international issues. Both countries have also sought to strengthen commercial ties in response to changing geopolitical dynamics and economic challenges.

The latest high-level exchanges underscore the growing importance of the Tehran-Moscow relationship at a time of shifting alliances in the region. Analysts say cooperation in energy, trade and transport corridors is expected to remain high on the agenda as both governments seek to broaden their strategic partnership.

With regional tensions continuing to shape international diplomacy, Medvedev’s visit and his meetings with senior Iranian officials highlight Russia’s continued support for Iran and its commitment to expanding cooperation across multiple sectors in the months ahead.
