IQNA – The Iranian Cultural Center in Austria (House of Iranian Wisdom in Vienna) has issued an official call for papers for the Second International Conference on Iranian-Islamic Civilization.

2nd Int’l Conference on Iranian-Islamic Civilization in Vienna to Focus on Women’s Role

This edition of the conference will focus on “Women’s Agency in Iranian Civilization; From Antiquity to the Present.”

It will be held on January 31, 2027 in a combined format (in person in Vienna and Tehran as well as online), and university professors, researchers, intellectuals, and graduate students from around the world have been invited to present scientific papers.

This event follows the success of the First International Conference on Iranian-Islamic Civilization, which was held on February 18 and 19, 2026 in Vienna, with the participation of university professors, Iranologists, and researchers from different countries.

The first conference was widely welcomed by academic circles and provided a platform for scientific dialogue on various aspects of Iranian-Islamic civilization, including civilizational identity, Persian language and literature, cultural heritage, philosophy, art, medicine, science, spirituality, and the future of Iranological studies.

The second conference seeks to present a scientific, documented, and interdisciplinary picture of the position and influence of women in the formation, continuity, and flourishing of Iranian civilization.

The organizers believe that examining the role of women in the fields of culture, knowledge, politics, governance, art, education, health, spirituality, and social changes can open new horizons in civilizational and Iranological studies.

The main themes of the conference include political leadership, diplomacy, and governance; language, written heritage, and cultural memory; science, health, and social change; and spirituality, ethics, and intellectual authority.

The Secretariat will also welcome comparative, artistic, and historical and political studies related to the conference theme.
