IQNA – An Iranian lawmaker says united economic measures by Muslim nations against the Israeli regime and its Western supporters could put an end to the genocide in Gaza.

Muslim Unity for ending Gaza war

“Islamic countries, by standing together, can economically pressure Europe, the United States, and the Zionist regime, forcing them to stop these atrocities,” Sara Fallahi told IQNA on Monday.

“The issue of Palestine has always been the axis of Muslim unity,” he said, adding, “Despite the differences that Muslims have on certain issues, at the very least, Muslim nations are united on the issue of Palestine, and holding onto this common point can facilitate the movement toward unity.”

The statements come as Muslims in the besieged Gaza Strip are facing genocidal attacks by Israeli forces. The Israeli regime launched its devastating war on October 7 last year after a retaliatory operation by Palestinian resistance forces.

More than 41,000 Palestinians have been killed and above 95,000 others, mostly women and children, injured in the Israeli attacks in the past 10 months.

“Islamic countries should accept unity as a strategic approach,” Fallahi added as different programs are being held in Iran and several other countries to mark the Islamic Unity Week.

The 17th day of Rabi al-Awwal, which falls on September 21 this year, is believed by Shia Muslims to mark the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), while Sunni Muslims regard the 12th day of the month (Thursday, September 16) as the birthday of the last prophet.

The interval between the two dates was declared the Islamic Unity Week by the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini, in the 1980s.

“Certainly, we can use the tools of scientific, commercial, cultural, economic, and political exchanges to come closer and increase unity,” said the lawmaker.

“The more interactions Muslims have with each other, where they can share their resources, they will naturally move toward fulfilling their needs within their own relationships. In this way, they will not hand over the region to external powers, and powerful countries will not be able to exploit the Muslim countries.”
