
Nicknamed “Ambassador of the State of Recitation”, Sheikh Hilal was one of the great figures in the field of reciting the Holy Quran in Egypt and the Islamic world according to Al-Shorouk news website.
Hilal was born on May 29, 1945 in the Damanhur Shubra Al-Khaimah region in Qalyubia province, Egypt, and left behind a rich life of service to the Word of Revelation.
He grew up in a family interested in knowledge and the Holy Quran, and memorized the Book of God at an early age.
He completed memorization of the entire Quran at the age of 12. Hilal then studied the sciences of Tajweed and recitation with a number of Quranic scholars, and one of his most prominent teachers was Sheikh Muhammad Abdel Ghani, who guided him to join the Institute of Recitations at Al-Azhar to complete his religious and Quranic education.
His talent for recitation was evident from childhood, and before the age of 17, he was participating in events marking religious occasions and Quranic nights until his fame spread across the country.
He was distinguished by a powerful and impressive voice that placed him among the qaris of Egy[t’s great generation. He also received the title of “Ambassador of the State of Recitation” due to his extensive efforts in spreading the Holy Quran inside and outside Egypt.
Sheikh Hilal was accepted in the Egyptian Radio exams in 1976, after having created an independent personality for himself in performance and recitation.
He insisted on having his own style without imitation, thus leaving a distinctive impression on the audience and lovers of Quran recitation.
Sheikh Hilal was the representative of Egypt in many countries of the world, traveling to more than 20 Arab, European, African and American countries and reciting the Quran in many major Islamic gatherings. He also recorded the Holy Quran in its entirety twice in the United States and Switzerland, and a number of men and women converted to Islam after being impressed by listening to him reciting the Holy Quran.

Sheikh Hilal held the position of head of the reciters of Qalyubiyah province for many years and was known for his dedication to guiding and instructing the reciters and paying attention to mastering the rules of recitation. He continued his mission in serving the Word of Revelation until his death on July 18, 2013, leaving behind an eternal Quranic legacy.
