The event has been launched with the participation of 30 countries.
The opening ceremony was attended by Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Karbala, representative of the Iraqi religious authority, and Hassan Rashid al-Abaiji, the custodian of the holy shrine.
Sayed Riyadh Saeed al-Hakim, a seminary scholar, said in an address to the ceremony that the Holy Quran is the eternal miracle of Islam and has preserved the identity of the Islamic Ummah throughout different eras.
He said it is an effective tool for conveying its message and guidance to humanity.
The Holy Quran plays a fundamental role in the life of the Ummah and, as an eternal miracle, conveys the immortality of the message of Islam to the world, he stated.
Al-Hakim also said that despite the passage of more than fourteen centuries, the Holy Quran has played a role in preserving the principles of Muslim belief and has been a key factor in preserving Islamic identity.
He added that another role of the Holy Quran lies in its direct impact on hearts and minds, because it is a book that is distinguished by its eloquence, rhetoric, and influential style.
The seminary said paying attention to recitation and improving recitation, voice, and tone is closely related to the message and goals of the Quran in guiding society.
He stated that Quranic activities and events help unite Muslims under the umbrella of the Holy Quran and strengthen their commonalities.
Al-Hakim also emphasized that such initiatives create a unifying atmosphere for the Muslim community, despite different opinions and interpretations.
