Expressing solidarity with Iran, Galloway said his "heart is with the people of Iran" during the funeral of the "martyr Ayatollah Ali Khamenei." He praised leader's lifelong commitment to the country, saying he "died as he lived, serving the people of Iran and serving the religion of Islam."
Galloway described the late Leader as "an inspiration to hundreds of millions of people around the world," adding that his sacrifice "was not in vain."
Commenting on the recent conflict, Galloway said the Iranian people had risen to the challenge of an attack by "two nuclear superpowers" and had emerged victorious. While noting that "the war may not be over yet," he argued that Iran had already secured a strategic victory and had "joined the ranks of the superpowers of the world."
Galloway concluded by expressing hope that Ayatollah Khamenei's legacy would endure, saying he "will never be forgotten," and offered prayers for the country's new Leader and the people of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
