Al-Azhar Chief Emphasizes Adhering to Moderation
In a message on the occasion of the new Hijri lunar year, which began on Tuesday, Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb called on everyone to be inspired by the values of sustainability, determination and will, steadfastness on the path of truth, and concern for preserving the sanctity of lands in Islam, el-Balad News reported.
He asked God Almighty to make this year a year full of goodness, blessings, security, and peace for all humanity.
The sheikh of Al-Azhar stated that the migration of the Prophet (PBUH) is a pivotal lesson in the history of Islam and the prophetic life, and following his example in the field of firm faith in God, trust, perseverance in hardships in the path of spreading Islam, and providing the best examples of peaceful coexistence with non-Muslims has taken root in the minds of Muslims.
The Islamic Hijri calendar starts from the year of the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) Hijra (migration) from Mecca to Medina.
Al-Tayeb called on all Islamic nations to adhere to the approach of moderation, and while declaring their opposition to the factors of division and disagreement, strive to strengthen Islamic unity and joint cooperation between their nations so that peace, prosperity and progress can be achieved for them.

He asked God Almighty to protect the Arab and Islamic nations, free them from suffering, unite their ranks and create unity of speech among them, and guide world leaders to adhere to the values of truth, justice and equality among people.
