Top Qaris Attend Inauguration of Mosque in Egypt’s Qalyubia
The ceremony was held Friday evening to launch Bahri Mosque in Tant Al-Jazira in the northern governorate, al-Bawaba news website reported.
Qalyubia is situated north of Cairo in the Nile Delta region and its capital is Banha.
Mahmoud Shahat Anwar, Yassir al-Sharqawi, Shahat al-Sayyed A’azazi and Sheikh Mohamed Abdul Qadir were among the prominent qaris present at the event.
There were also other Quranic figures, Quran and religious TV personalities and religious figures.
The qaris recited verses from the Holy Quran and Sheikh Mohamed Abdul Qadir performed Ibtihal (a kind of litany) at the inaugural ceremony.
Egypt is a country in North Africa with a population of around 100 million.
Muslims account for around 90 percent of the country’s total population.
Quranic activities are very common in the Muslim-majority Arab country and many of the Muslim world’s top qaris in the past and present have been Egyptian.
