Int’l Conference of “Fighting US Invasion of Syria” in Beirut

An international conference titled “Fighting US Invasion of Syria” was held in Beirut on Monday, September 16.



The event was organized by the Beirut-based Arab Center for Interaction and Solidarity, Al’Ahd website reported.


Scholars and political figures from different Muslim and non-Muslim countries took part in the conference, among them Deputy Secretary General of Hezbollah Sheikh Naim Qassem.


In an address to the conference he said, “In confronting the foreign challenges that are threatening the future of Syria, we will stand by the Syrian nation.”


He described demands for reforms in Syria as legitimate and called for political solution for the country’s crisis.


Ali Abdul Karim Ali, Syrias Ambassador to Lebanon also delivered a speech, saying that Syria has been facing an intense aggression but has remained powerful and will be victorious.


He said Syria appreciates the supports it has received from its friends. The ambassador also noted that Iran and the resistance movement are the targets in the war against Syria.


The next speaker, Russia’s Ambassador to Beirut Alexander Zasypkin said Moscow rejects military options for the Syrian crisis and calls for extensive international cooperation based on respect for the sovereignty of Syria.


The participants at the conference underscored the need for resolving the Syrian crisis politically and peacefully.
