Nat’l Quran Competition for Quranic Elites in Iraq

A Quran competition was held for Iraqi Quranic elites on Tuesday, October 1.



The competition was organized in the holy city of Karbala in the categories of recitation, memorization and interpretation of the Quran, the website of the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine reported.


The holy shrine hosted the day-long contest, which was attended by Quranic elites from different provinces.


It was part of the 5th Quran Week held by the Center for Quranic Sciences affiliated to Shia Waqf Department of Iraq.


Zia Yusuf Jassem, one of the contestants, said the competition provided a good opportunity for Iraqi Quran reciters and memorizers to enhance their Quranic skills.


Abdul Azim Khalil, another participant from Kirkuk province said the contest is a venue for Quran reciters and memorizers to exchange ideas and experiences.


Prominent Egyptian Quran reciter Farajullah Shazli was also present at the competition as a guest of honor.
