Paris Grand Mosque to Host Eid Al-Adha Prayers

Eid Al-Adha will be celebrated at the Grand Mosque of Paris where the Eid prayers will also be performed congregationally by the Muslim citizens.

According to saphirnews website, Dalil Bubakr, custodian of the mosque has issued a statement announcing that a ceremony will be held on the auspicious occasion at the mosque on October 15.

He said that the mosque will host the Eid prayers which will begin at 8:45 a.m. local time.

He wished a blissful Eid for all Muslims, particularly those in France, and invited the Muslim citizens to participate in the prayers like previous years and hold a glorious ceremony.

Like Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha begins with a Sunnah prayer of two rakats followed by a sermon (khuṭbah). Eid al-Adha celebrations start after the descent of the Hajj from Mount Arafat, a hill east of Mecca.

In the lunar Islamic calendar, Eid al-Adha falls on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah. In the international Gregorian calendar, the dates vary from year to year, drifting approximately 11 days earlier each year.
